 I'm no stranger to nursing a baby in public.  My youngest son was breast fed for a long time and there were plenty of times he nursed when we were out-and-about.  I've nursed in planes, trains, on the beach and in restaurants.  When I first started nursing, it took a while to get comfortable with it, but  once it became second nature, I didn't want to be banished to another room or hide my baby under one of those apron type nursing covers.  We usually used a small blanket or burp cloth to cover up what needed to be covered, but it was important to me to maintain eye contact with him and allow him to see me as well.
