Luckily, I am pretty darn thrifty and bought some Valentine's cards on *super clearance* last year after Valentine's Day. I think I got them for 90% off which is my favorite way to shop for seasonal items like this. Then, I can just buy a little treat to go with the cards and I'll be done.
I take after my mom, so when I see a good sale, I tend to jump on it. The key to successful holiday clearance shopping is remembering where you put these deals a year later. Right? As long as you remember where you hid your deals, then it was successful shopping mission!
